Build Back Better, launched in 2022, allows households affected by flooding to access up to £10,000 in funding for property flood resilience measures when repairing their homes after a flood. The goal is to make homes stronger against future floods.
In 2025, Ageas UK signed up as one of the sponsors of the new Floodmobile, a cutting-edge mobile exhibition designed to support flood-prone communities across the UK. This exhibition will tour the country offering practical demonstrations, expert advice and trusted guidance to help residents better understand what they need to do to strengthen their homes before and after flood events. And in parallel, members of Ageas’s own claims team attended the National Flood School to better understand the human impact of floods on families, a powerful reminder that behind every claim there are individuals whose lives have been devastated.
Ageas was also one of the first insurers to incorporate WeatherNet’s SurgeCast application with policyholders’ data. Thanks to this, more and more ‘at risk’ customers have been identified, allowing for early alerts and the deployment of specialists claims handlers and suppliers at the earliest possible stage in the claims process. This helps to settle claims faster - a case of being where our customers need us to be.
In addition, Ageas is one of several insurers helping brokers tackle climate driven risks. In 2025, Ageas rolled out tools and events to help brokers stay one step ahead, including timely communications, using the Ageas Weather Hub to help brokers prepare for and respond to severe weather, and hosting weather-wise events for brokers, to share knowledge, insights, and practical steps to support customers through weather-related claims.
Further strengthening its commitment, Ageas has also provided funding to REACT Disaster Response to support flood recovery efforts and preparedness ahead of the anticipated winter floods in 2025. The partnership ensures that vital resources and trained volunteers are ready to assist communities impacted by severe flooding, reinforcing Ageas’s pledge to protect people when they need it most.
Ongoing cross-sector dialogue around flood resilience continues, with increased focus on the claims process and government-led discussions around the future of flood insurance in the UK. The reality of weather-related events due to climate change translates for Ageas UK into a constant search for new and innovative ways to help prepare and protect customers.
