Highlights of a milestone year for AG!

AG DroneChallenge

2024 was an exciting year of celebration for AG marking its bicentenary. This remarkable milestone was recognised throughout the year together with those who make AG the company it is today: its people, customers, and partners. Celebrations spanned a series of dedicated events and initiatives ending in a visit by the King of Belgium to the offices of AG in December. What a way to end this extraordinary year!

Events of this scale inspire action and highlight what can be achieved through teamwork— the hallmark of AG’s success over the past 200 years. Throughout this festive year, two hundred unique challenges were launched, engaging AG and Ageas employees, as well as, in some cases, friends, family members, and distribution partners. The challenges offered something for everyone, spanning six key areas of engagement: Sport, Art, Food & Drink, Ecology, Society and Discovery, with more than a third of these reflecting our focus on giving back to society, what AG has prioritised for more than 200 years.

This year-long celebration brought with it a real sense of belonging thanks to the strong momentum created and widespread employee engagement. This positive spirit will now be harnessed for the future with the continuing support and collaboration of all employees.

Other highlights included:

  • A corporate history exhibition: An exhibition showcasing AG’s 200-year journey was created to celebrate its rich history.

  • A unique photo exhibition: The Faces of AG photo exhibition highlighted the people who make up the organisation.

  • The ‘AG forest’ initiative: AG employees planted 4,000 trees, unveiling a new forest as a symbol of the company’s strong commitment to sustainability.

  • Festive commercial campaigns: Several targeted campaigns and events for customers were launched to celebrate the milestone and increase awareness.

  • Anniversary events: A series of gala evenings were held throughout the year, welcoming partners, brokers, employees, business leaders across Belgian society, and top government officials.

Who could have imagined back in 1824 that AG would grow into the clear market leader in both the Life and Non-Life insurance markets? Or that AG would go on to play a pivotal role in shaping not only the insurance industry but also Belgian society as a whole? From its pioneering beginnings, AG has been at the forefront of innovation. For example, AG introduced Belgium’s very first pension plan, laying the groundwork for financial security for generations of Belgians. Today, AG continues to lead as Belgium’s largest private investor, contributing over EUR 27 billion to the Belgian economy—a testament to its commitment to national growth and stability.

The scale of AG’s impact is equally impressive: more than three million customers trust AG to protect what matters most to them, supported by a dedicated workforce of 4,400 employees and a network of over 5,000 distribution partners. With one in two Belgian families insured by AG, the company’s reach extends deeply into the fabric of daily life across the country.

It’s been a remarkable journey over 200 years—marked by bold decisions, a relentless focus on customer needs, and a clear vision for the future. And as AG looks ahead, the best is yet to come.
